Going by the cholor scheme, I would think that that’s North-North America’s King, an judging from the rown, I’d say that she’s Lady Liberty (or Uncle Sam).

Celtic mythology has no relation to those colors, even if the Union Jack shares them.

As was mentioned on the forums, UK’s flag is also red and blue, and the sword and cane in the illustrations can be taken as proof that it might also be Arthur(ia).

I think I had made it clear: while the Union Jack, UK’s flag made by combining England’s St. George’s cross (red over white), Scotland’s St. Andrew’s cross (white over blue) and Ireland’s St. Patrick’s cross (red over white), do has the same color pattern of red, white and blue, not only British are not so prone to show their patriotism by wearing their flag’s colors as US citizens, it’s stated that Advanced Magic countries, though they retain the names of the countries that make their cores, have changed to reflect their respective worshipped mythologies.
This would mean in general that their national symbols, as their territory did, could have changed (except Japan and North-North America, as one has sided with a mythology that does not ask for worship while the other has national identity as object of worshipping), and it becomes even more pressing for Britain.
Why is it so? Just check my description of UK’s flag and you’ll realize that it’s a big Christian symbol, which doesn’t mesh well with a country that has implemented the sole worship of Celtic mythology. Britain has to have changed both the design and the colors of their flag in order to not go against their faith.

Funny you mention that, her design is filled with crosses if you look closely. It could be either person right now but I feel like the American King wouldn’t be using a sword for some reason and they wouldn’t hold a cane either, that’s a gentleman’s weapon.

You do recall that the divas also change according to the beliefs of people right? So the possibility that the divas of the celtic divas having changed according to certain views of the people is not zero either, even though you do raise a good argument about the flag.

But then, what of the swords portrayed in the image? What of the cane in her left hand? The only known character who wields a long sword is Arthur, and I doubt that a techno inspired North – North America would readily use a primitive arm such as that (even though it pained me to say that, as I am a fan of swords myself). The very least they use is HF blades.

Lastly, every known American Justice Diva shown has a star (a five pointed one) somewhere in the outfit, but this only has crosses and diamonds.

Although I raise all these points, there’s also a counter argument to this, in that the color of her eyes does not match with Arthur, which was mentioned as being blue(iirc) in v7.

Welp, I guess only time will tell ^^ ‘

About the eye color, the thing with chinese and japanese is that 青 can also mean green i.e. the green dragon crescent blade. What confuses me is the gold in the design which doesn’t belong to either nation’s flag but I guess in could symbolize wealth for U.S or a majestic king but in vol 9 Excalibur was said to have gold ornaments.

One of the swords is a Japanese katana, and I don’t know how a staff would mean that she’s Arthur.
I’ve checked the only available image of arthur and, comparing them, there’s nothing beyound a certain resemblance in the forelocks that could point to that identity, as the rest of the face features have either doubtful resemblance or are shared with other white characters (like Lotte or Lizliza).

Hair length and style doesn’t really matter in terms of magic dress. Kazuha’s goes from short to waist length when she transforms. Miyabi’s hair gets a hairband with a crescent moon on it and a gold cord tying her hair into a ponytail even if it was loose before.

Fun fact about Lady Liberty, It was designed by Frederic Auguste Bartholdi a french sculpture and given to America as a gift from France. She is a representation of Libertas a Roman Goddess bearing a torch and tabula ansata (a tablet evoking the law) in which the date of American declaration of independence is dated on it. It is a symbol of freedom. It was also a welcoming sight to immigrants.

So seeing as the current king of the North America has dabbled his/her fingers in slavery that would really dirty the image of Lady Liberty. It has also been stated in the previous volume that the current king is (Super One) and needs prosperities to be strong I am going to say it would be more along the lines of a business tycoon like a rip off McDonald’s we see in many anime/manga or something similar to “Brawndo” from the movie Idiocracy. It could even be a rip off of Wal-mart or even Costco. But seeing as the king of NA needs wealth, I’d rule out Lady Liberty and maybe uncle sam who represent the manifestation of the patriotic emotion of the people of America. Again they claim Freedom as their right but yet the current king is dabbling in slavery. So Uncle Sam would be a bad choice.

I’m not saying that they won’t make an appearance in the novel or that they are not the one on the cover but i highly doubt they represent the current king (Super One).

That aside it actually said wealth in the translation unless it has been changed since reading it back when it was just freshly translated. Wealth doesn’t only mean money but in this case it does let’s face it if there using slaves it sure as hell doesn’t mean there lovey dovey.

The only place “wealth” is mentioned as a source of power is in Kazuki’s one-line summary (“This country was ruled by either wealth or death.”); the rest of the time (even the line before that one) it says “prosperity”.
It cannot be “money”, for they are a closed-off country and thus monetary wealth cannot go up, and slavery has nothing to do with (money) wealth increment, only with wealth distribution. However, as cheap labor hand, slavery is a very good contribution to prosperity (even if morally questionable, more so in both modern depictions and Confederate Statates reality), and in this case it also contributes to prosperity by making slaves into a power source.

They are not closed off by any means. They were trading slaves with the Norse mythology Vassal States and same with Britain’s and who knows who else.

You are thinking way to much on IRL this is fictional. Also chill out a little you don’t need to get butt hurt because someone is saying their opinion. It’s like no matter what is said you come back with an argument trying to prove everyone wrong.

All i am saying is that if there is slaves involved there is usually money involved and just because don’t openly trade with the 7 magically advanced countries but vassal states doesn’t make them poor either. (super one) IN MY OPINION (there i said it in caps so you can clearly see it) Sounds more like a business type diva (WEATHER HE IS TRADING FOR MONEY OR OTHER TYPES OF PROSPERITY) that is still a business.

To me I am by no means attached to the US or it’s history or historical figures or any countries historical figures including my own but Using Lady Liberty as a reference for (super one) would just be wrong.

We really won’t know what the author wants to do until we read the next volume and the rest of the volumes coming after that. So feel free to continue arguing over a simple discussion of who was on the front page I have my opinion and you have yours. I can’t say who is right or who is wrong. But don’t go acting all high and mighty trying to change another’s opinion or shoving it in their face.

As a continuation of that intention of mine, I’d say that slave trade with European Vassal States is technically black market. The only way it could contribute to their country’s prosperity would be laundering it in Las Vegas’ casinos. Even so, this would lead to inflation, which would end up reducing the prosperity.

Still, I’ve just realized that a very good candidate for [Super One] would be “the dollar”.

Nah you can share your opinion or say what you want i really don’t care honestly. But from my POV they way you explained your comments was basically saying I’m right your wrong.

You did make a lot of good points that do pertain to IRL but again this is FICTION not everything in this novel pertains to IRL. For example Amaterasu being a NEET I have never personally met a diva or scene one but i would be shocked if they were truly a neet or if they actually walked the earth for that matter. I can’t say if they exist or not because like i said i’ve never personally met one.

You have freedom of speech like everyone else and are allowed to speak your mind I can’t tell you to shut up or that your opinion is wrong. But there is a fine line between discussing and arguing over facts.

Honestly Dollar is my last name so i get jokes like that all the time i may have been way to sarcastic in my replies but that is just my personality. Honestly (super one) could be shit on a stick for all i care.

                • jorgelotr says:

Amaterasu being a NEET is a trope found in many places as of recent. It all comes from the fact that “Amaterasu holed up inside the Ama-no-Iwato” while forgetting to mention why she did so, as the answer would be too much for the “prudish” minds of modern people, meaning that as of now most Japanese don’t know the cause, so they fill it with things they see in their surroundings (like she being a NEEt or a hikikomori, suffering a terrible depression or becoming mad with someone).

Also, hadn’t realized that your nick/last name was “dollar”. I was focusing more on your words than your handle. I said “dollar” because it joins “capitalism” (wich seems to be the one of the bases of their mythos system) with “patriotism” (which seems to be another of the bases).

                  • Dollar0019 says:

I can honestly say i didn’t know that about Amaterasu. I have only seen the name mention in this LN and a couple of anime but nothing involving a NEET except this LN of course.

Well from what we can agree on is that Capitalism and patriotism are what the north is based on. And as several people in this conversation have said we will just have to wait to see who (super one really is).

The pretty lady on the cover could even be someone completely different it’s not like the girl on the cover has to deal directly with novel or Kazuki any more as found in volume 10 with Illya being the cover girl only to be mentioned by Loki in the beginning and nothing else. Who’s to say she won’t make an appearance this novel though.

You have made many valid points in this discussion I can admit that and by the way you are wording your sentences you are very knowledgeable about these things that pertain to IRL. Me on the other hand I just googled stuff.

I Apologize for jumping on you about the handle thing i just assumed that was pointed at me because it was the same as my handle/last name. It’s not that it bothers me really i think it would be pretty awesome to get a mention in a LN. Although i would prefer to a protagonist rather than an antagonist.

Not only that, he is accepting to the idea of an alliance with the rebels of the Chinese army. So while mahouka indeed paints a picture of “Japan good. World Bad” , magika seems more tame in this aspect.

And having teh mc have a dark past is like in 99% of battle LN …

Here is a wiki page with information on Celtic Mythology.
But honestly lets face it the author doesn’t follow non- fiction rules.
THERE’S a reason it’s called fiction that’s because the author can write this how ever he wants to.

Judging from how he does things there is also Kaguya who’s eye color changes when she access Asmodeus’s powers so even if by chances Arthur’s eyes where blue they could change green when accessing her Diva powers. Arthur also has patriotism for Britain as shown during the voyage on the cruise when they were cooking. Just because the magically advanced countries are now about religion doesn’t mean that don’t have patriotism for their country…

Someone mentioned a that the person in the photo is also holding a cane, I really can’t say that is a cane it looks more like a stick to me It only shows a portion of it, but that is Excalibur in the picture sure it looks more yellow then gold but yellow and gold are from the same colour scheme. It also has a Japanese katana on the cover showing a crossing of swords. To me that seems like Arthur and Kazuki might have a dual of sorts. Just a gut feeling gut seeing as Kazuki has the power to take other kings and divas under him as subordinates this might the volume Arthur gets closer to Kazuki as listed in the description positivity levels raising and and x magical sword battle.

I honestly think the picture on the cover is Arthur. If it was America King it would certainly be more flashy then this. But the thing that bothers me most is where has Arthur been hiding that chest this whole time? Even if she used one of those wraps that would still be noticeable… Just look they are on the same level as Mio and Kaguya. Although Kaguya’s are definitely bigger.
