Chapter 18: My First Love Had Become Beautiful, But I Had Prettier Girl as My Wife Now so It Didn’t Matter

We climbed a tree and ushered into the village chief’s house.

The chief’s house was the biggest tree in the village that was hollowed in the inside.

The tree would die if human did the same thing, but in elf’s case, the tree could still live even though it was used as house.

The elves could shelter themselves from the weather, while the tree was taken care by the elf. The tree could obtain vitality by absorbing the magic power leaking out from the elf. The trees and the elves were in co-existence and co-prosperity.

(For some reason, the elves of this world are living n Japanese style.)

There weren’t any chair. We were sitting on the flat cushion that was prepared for us.

Rurine stiffened. She didn’t know anything about the culture of seiza(kneeling with the tops of the feet flat on the floor, and sitting on the soles). On top of that she had been taught discipline that sitting on the floor was bad manner in Forland.

I ordered earth spirit to bring in soil with viscous quality from outside and gave it shape, then I hardened it by burning it with fire spirit, and then cooled it down with the power of wind spirit.

And then a chair was made.

「She is a human and isn’t used to sit on the floor. Do you mind if she use chair?」

「I don’t mind. Because unlike human it’s our principle to live with things as they are.」

The monsters were relatively not that concerned about manners and the like. They were extremely finicky about things like festival or custom though.

「Ork-niisama, thank you for the help.」

Rurine sat down on the chair that I created.

With this we could finally talk.

「It has been one year. Your look hasn’t changed at all Kurlina.」

I talked to him with a friendly smile.

「You have grown really big Ork-dono.」

The chief of elf village Kurlina had one more face. He was one of the demon king’s four heavenly kings.

Just like how Tou-san stopped being the demon king and became the chief of orc village, he also returned to be the elf village’s chief after the demon king army was dissolved.

I often met with him even after the convention of the eight races.

The reason was because of Tou-san sulking.

When I trained, Kaa-san gathered my teachers with her connection. Tou-san was really bothered that he couldn’t teach me anything.

There, he would sometimes called the four heavenly kings to be my opponent.

As expected, my schedule was already completely packed full from having five teachers teaching me. I couldn’t possibly increase my curriculum any further.

But the four heavenly kings would serve as my sparring partner or bestowing me a skill by teaching me for one day. I was really thankful for those.

On top of that, there is a worry that the commanders of the armies are brainwashed……Forland Kingdom is desperately trying to stop them but, this village will be burned and the elves kidnapped if they don’t make it in time.」

Kurlina’s daughter looked shaken, but Kurlina himself only nodded calmly.

The number of battlefield that both of them had survived was different.

「Fumu, I’ll be in disadvantage if the opponent is an army. Do you come here to assist us Ork-dono?」

「Exactly. Excluding Kurlina, the elves here aren’t good at war. Also, Kurlina is invincible at individual battle, but your ability to face an army is low.」

Kurlina looked perfect at first glance, but he had a fatal weak point.

Rather than calling it the weakness of Kurlina, it was more like the characteristic weakness of the elves in this village.

「That’s really regrettable. Kurlina’s daughter is a real beauty. But, I think it’s better like this. Try looking at your daughter’s face.」

Kurlina laughed. His daughter was making a very disgusted face.

Because the orcs around here did as they pleased too much in the past, the elves here were raised with the teaching that orc was a filthy and scary creature through things like picture book, old tale, and various other things.

I was surprised by myself that I wasn’t really bothered that my first love was acting like that toward me.

This must be thanks to how I had matured into an adult and to Tita and Kururu who I loved and loved me back even more than her.

I told him that the first prince Falta was brainwashed was to give that kind of impression.

In reality, Falta wasn’t brainwashed or anything. He simply got instigated.

Even so, it would be more convenient if Kurlina considered Falta as fellow victim due to the brainwashing rather than thinking of him simply as a human who ran wild. That was why I told him something like that.

I took out a parchment from my pocket.

「This is the forbidden magic that was used to brainwash the people in Forland Kingdom. It was my first time seeing it. Kurlina, you surely will understand what I want to say after seeing this.」

Kurlina stared fixedly at the magic formula.

And then, he was shaken even though he wasn’t shaken at all even when he was told that humans were coming to attack here.

「This magic formula, no, there is no way, how can such thing-」

「The mannerism in this formula isn’t from human. Its basic idea is different. Of course, perhaps someone from the monster side was simply creating this magic and it was human that made use of it. Just like how the peace would crumble if human laid their hands on the monster, the reverse was also possible, but the risk of that would be too high.

If someone from the monster side wished for the war to resume, they would take this kind of method.

Kurlina relaxed the hands that he was strongly clenching.

「Thank you for your help.」

We stood up and shook hands.

Even if the marching of the army couldn’t be stopped, there wouldn’t be any problem at all as long as I had the cooperation of the elves.

The only problem that remained was,

「……Ork-dono, be careful, was it because of kindness that you didn’t say it out loud? That magic formula, it’s his」

「Please don’t ask me that.」

That was a done deal.

「I’ll think about it if your daughter come to like me from the bottom of her heart.」

Both of us laughed together.

It was then, the door was opened violently.

「There is a contact from the guard. A large army of human is coming from twenty kilometer from here. Their number is around a thousand.」

The population of the elf village was less than 200. The enemy numbered five times that. Considering that 200 also included elf women, children, and old men, the difference in fighting strength between both sides was incomparable.

Furthermore, the enemies were all magic knight who could use magic.

There would be no chance of victory for the elves if they faced the army head on.

In addition to that, I was restricted with the condition of wasn’t allowed to let even a single person whether they were ally or enemy to die.

Normally something like that would be just a pipe dream.

However, I shall accomplish that pipe dream.

I came here for the sake of that.
