The dude is answerer’s greatest general. Basically a great and cool dude that’s unfortunately on enemy’s side. He hit it off so well with baldr that he doesn’t mine even if he’s an enemy.

Nope. Not in form of weapon, at least. No ship cannons, they still fight by abordage, and bows or magic at best. Even ballistae on ship was something of state-of-art level just now
I guess, he just compounded black powder by himself. I’m more concerned, what is inside of that pipe bomb – black powder would be too weak for this size. At most it would be just some distraction. Did he compound some nitrocellulose or some kind of other smokeless gunpowder?

This is a direct quote from volume 5 chapter 4. They used gunpowder twice in the Antrim war. It’s not yet being used for projectile weapons but it definitely is being used.

its not one that triggers on impact. as that sort is to hard for his current tech lvl. brooks complained that it was hard to time the explosion with the shot.

He’s used gunpowder multiple times already. He made claymore mines that were used on Haurelia’s spies when they tried to find out his defenses. He had shrapnel bombs with fuses launched from catapults during the second Antrim war. And then he used more bombs to blow up a mountain and make a landslide.
