I mean he just finished Bahamut like 10 days ago at an insane pace. I think it’s reasonable to take a break after doing that.

Sousoki chapters are much larger than Bahamut.
On average, a Soudoki chapter are worth 2-3x Bahamut ones, sometimes even more.

Jokes aside, I’m more interested in how he survived a crude rocket barrage aside from “Main Character plot armor”. My guesses are: Using a church lackey or a nearby dead body as a meat shield the last second. Or he willed himself to Overboost for just a second needed to escape the worst of the blast, and the injuries are more from being ragdolled by the blast wave. Or one of the beastmen willingly shielded him and took the brunt of the explosion.
Also, is that dude getting skewered by Baldr’s trident Olten or another church arsehole? Either way, it looks to be a fitting end for whomever.

i’m more into thinking that Baldr was able to use the king’s gate because of some kind of limit or something. Using overboost is also a very plausible theory but the burden of that will leave him incapacitated for who knows how long. Last theory is that someone made it/appeared to protect him either by sacrificing themselves or casting magic to perform a barrier or something i dunno.

Wasn’t Baldr still under Gate Sealing by one or more of the “Holy Artifacts” in the attempt to kill him? If so, he shouldn’t be able to pull off a King’s Gate power burst, hence my guess he might have forced himself to Overboost just for a second or two at the cost of self-injury.

Went back and edited all of the existing maps and discovered I’ve been reading/pronouncing Sanjuan wrong this whole time! So I had yet another spelling error on the volume 11 map. ugh
